AQUAMARINE
AQUAMARINE
Aquamarine is the blue to blue-green gem variety of beryl, the same mineral species that includes emerald. Its color is caused primarily by iron within the crystal structure, and heating is commonly used to reduce greenish tones and produce a purer blue. Beryl has Mohs hardness of about 7.5–8 and aquamarine often forms large, relatively clean prismatic crystals in granitic pegmatites. Important sources include Brazil, Pakistan, Nigeria, Mozambique and Madagascar. Unlike emerald, aquamarine commonly has fewer visible inclusions, allowing highly transparent stones to be cut from large crystals.
Presented as a refined naturalist plate, this art print highlights its ocean-like clarity, symbolic calm, and timeless elegance. A unique piece for gemstone lovers, collectors of scientific illustration, and interiors seeking elegance with meaning.
