EMERALD
EMERALD
Emerald is the vivid green gem variety of beryl, a beryllium aluminium silicate. Its color is caused mainly by trace chromium and/or vanadium incorporated into the crystal lattice. Beryl has a Mohs hardness of about 7.5–8, but emeralds commonly contain fractures and inclusions that can make individual stones more vulnerable to impact than the hardness number suggests. Emerald formation requires the unusual geological meeting of beryllium-bearing fluids with chromium- or vanadium-bearing rocks, helping explain the relative rarity of high-quality material. Important deposits occur in Colombia, Zambia, Brazil and several other regions.
Presented as a refined naturalist plate, this art print highlights its vivid green brilliance, symbolic renewal, and timeless elegance. A unique piece for gemstone lovers, collectors of scientific illustration, and interiors seeking elegance with meaning.
